At VBS today I taught the Kindergarten aged (4 & 5 year old) kids, and it was a riot.

At one point we were sitting at the Arts & Crafts table, and one precocious child asks an adult leader if “She knows how to write ‘Daddy I miss you’ on her paper”. The adult answered affirmatively and was asked to write that phrase on the bookmark being made. No sooner had crayon hit paper than the mark was ripped away by the child, who declared “You actually don’t know what you’re doing. And I do know how to write that I remember”. She then wrote gibberish all over the bookmark, instructed us as to what it said, and moved on with confidence, apparently assured that her mission was accomplished and her message immortalized on paper.

Oh children. What joy.
